The FA have revealed the truth about Lucas Paqueta’s situation following claims that charges were dropped.

Sometimes situations arise that could only happen at West Ham – their star player getting caught up in a betting scandal surrounding some extremely dubious yellow cards is certainly one of them.

When it was first revealed that some suspicious activity had taken place on Betway accounts in Brazil, it split football fans whether or not these claims had any substance or not. Paqueta has always been the type of player that you can’t read – it is what makes him such a brilliant player, but that also carries over to poor self discipline. He has never shied away from a challenge with some incredibly stupid ones at that.

However, this did end up working in the Hammers’ favour as it prevented Manchester City from making a move for the midfielder. Unfortunately, there is every chance that this will be resolved by the Summer and City are still said to be interested.

Much to West Ham’s dismay, Inside World Football claimed that “the English Football Association failed to charge him as part of a betting investigation.” Meaning that the treble winners would have no issues in acquiring his services. Thankfully though, a FA spokesperson has said otherwise.

“That article is factually incorrect,” they told Hammers News.

It is still expected that the investigation will come to an end before the end of the Summer transfer window. but West Ham fans may now have a little bit of hope that they can keep hold of their Brazilian Magnifico for another season.
