West Ham named as unlikely favourites to sign highly sought after Premier League striker this Summer.

While David Moyes has succeeded immensely in a number of areas since rejoining West Ham, the one area he has undoubtedly failed is signing a top quality striker. Even when he took the job, it was already known that they needed to sign strong competition for Michail Antonio. With his age though, that need for competition has turned into a need for a replacement.

Despite high expectations, Scamacca, Ings and Haller all failed to impress in East London, but it seems like the club are wanting to go all out to get it right this time.

According to Pete O’Rourke, it seems like Ivan Toney could end up wearing claret and blue despite interest from multiple of the ‘big 6’. “There’s now a good chance that Ivan Toney could end up at West Ham. It would be a statement signing,” O’Rourke told Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast. “We know they have been lacking a number nine for a couple of seasons now.”

“There’s a lot of talk about Arsenal being interested in Toney but my understanding is that their interest has cooled and they’re looking at other targets.”

The striker has talked a big game about wanting to play for a top club so, it would admittedly be a bit anticlimactic if he was to join West Ham. However, he would potentially be playing in Europe and could be the player that helps the Hammers take the step up to that next level – it could end up being a move that has a massive impact on his career as well as the club’s future.
