A Premier League club could sign Kalvin Phillips in the Summer, and it’s not West Ham.

To say Kalvin Phillips’ loan to West Ham has been disastrous would be a massive understatement. For both the player and club there has been absolutely nothing good to come out of the move. Obviously, there is still time for this to change but it is incredibly hard to imagine at this point.

Unsurprisingly, it seems highly unlikely that West Ham will choose to make the deal permanent in the Summer – it simply wouldn’t make sense. However, the midfielder could be handed one last life line, once last chance to save his career, and that comes through his old club Leeds United.

Phillips left Leeds for Manchester City in 2022 for £42 million. Since then, Leeds have been relegated but they are one of four teams involved in an enthralling race for automatic promotion. If they do manage to make their way back to the Premier League, the Daily Mail reports that they could attempt to re-sign their former star.

Ahead of his loan to the London Stadium, it is believed that City valued him at an astonishing £40 million, but any club would be mad to pay anything near that for him. What may be a massive stumbling block for Leeds is the difference between what they’re willing to pay and what the treble winners demand.

If he is not able to do so in claret and blue, it would be great to see Phillips get back to his best at his boyhood club. Everyone who has met him has nothing but positive things to say about him, he just clearly is not in the right headspace at the moment. Maybe the only thing that can solve his issues is returning home.
