Talks are set to go ahead this month between West Ham and one of their top targets to replace David Moyes.
The message from the club remains that no decision has been made on David Moyes’ future yet, however, you can’t help but feel like this could be the end of an era. While it doesn’t look like he will go out on the high he would’ve hoped for, what an era it has been.
He dragged the Hammers from relegation destined, to European contenders, to European Champions in just a few years. While the consensus amongst fans is that it’s time for a change, whoever is next has a massive job on their hands. Not only are they following up on one of the club’s most successful managers, but they’ve also got to take charge of an enormous rebuild.
According to Caught Offside, Moyes is as good as gone at the end of the season and they are set to start talks with potential replacements this month.
It is no secret that the club already held talks with Ruben Amorim recently, but now they are apparently set to move on to another fan favourite option in Paulo Fonseca. The Portuguese coach has been doing a sensational job with Lille, having them on the brink of a Champions League finish.
With his contract set to expire at the end of the season, he could be the perfect replacement for Moyes, especially due to the fact that the board aren’t keen on paying compensation.
Unfortunately, the Hammers are set to face stiff competition from the likes of AC Milan for his signature and not to mention Lille will be keen for him to stay on.
From his style of play to his integration of the youth, he could really understand the West Ham way and instantly get the fans on-side. What this club needs more than anything right now is unity, he could certainly bring that.
