Former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman has suggested that Aaron Ramsdale may decide to move across London to either West Ham or Chelsea this summer in order to seek more regular game time.
David Raya, who joined Arsenal on loan from Brentford last summer and is expected to make that move permanent at the end of the season, has been Arsenal’s first choice goalkeeper this season. With Ramsdale being forced to play second choice, this has led to much speculation over the 26 year old’s future.
Ramsdale, who has won four caps for England, has started just 11 games in all competitions this season. Arsenal legend Seaman, believes Ramsdale should look to move on in order to revive his career and has suggested a move across London to either West Ham or Chelsea may be beneficial.
Chelsea’s number one this season has been Robert Sanchez, however there are some doubts over Sanchez and also Kepa who has spent the season on loan at Real Madrid. The Hammers, meanwhile, have had Alphonse Areola as their first choice goalkeeper for the majority of this season, the Frenchman has had an impressive campaign and arguably been one of West Ham’s standout performers this season.
As reported by the Metro, Seaman said: “You aren’t going to develop being a number two. As an Arsenal fan, I don’t really want Aaron Ramsdale to go. But then as an ex England goalkeeper, I want to see another keeper developing.”
Seaman went on to add: “I think he could go to somewhere like Chelsea to give himself a better shot of getting first team action. I think there are a few clubs who he would suit, maybe someone like West Ham too.”
