West Ham have been handed a massive boost in their bid to sign Championship starlet.

The second tier of English football is by far the best second division in the world. There are so many quality teams in the Championship, so much competitiveness and so much underappreciated talent.

With West Ham looking to bring in a massive amount of players in the Summer transfer window, they will need to use their funds wisely by signing some cheaper options; the Championship is the perfect place to do this.

Jonathan Rowe is someone the Hammers were linked with ahead of the January transfer window but, as with almost all of their targets, nothing came of this. However, according to Claret and Hugh, they could try and bring the 21-year-old to East London in the coming months.

In what is his first proper season for Norwich, he has scored 12 league goals and assisted a further 2. The attacker possesses a fair amount of pace in addition to being great on the ball. His finishing is also top notch but his passing is an area he needs to work on

Following the Canaries 4-0 thrashing to Leeds United, they are out of the play-offs and, as a result, West Ham may be able to get Rowe for cheaper than they would have if his side got promoted.

There is little doubt that Jonathan Rowe has serious potential, his goal catalogue speaks for itself, but whether he can fulfil that and, more importantly, whether he’s ready for the Premier League yet is a very different matter. Under normal circumstances, the Hammers may have considered purchasing him and loaning him back to Norwich for a season, but this just can’t happen with their current squad issues.

If they believe he’s ready, they must take a risk on the starlet. He’s still inexperienced but he has shown his worth already, would the Premier League be too big of a leap though?
