West Ham fullback Vladimir Coufal hopes that he and his teammates can do the impossible and win against Manchester City in what will be David Moyes’ final game in charge of the Hammers.

The Hammers travel to the Etihad on Sunday for their final Premier League match of the 23/24 season. David Moyes’ side have already confirmed a ninth placed finish, whilst City are hoping for three points which would see them win a fourth successive Premier League title.

With no wins at the Etihad since September 2015, West Ham certainly have a task on their hands for their final game of the campaign. According to Coufal, the 3-1 win at home against Luton last time out has helped in restoring confidence amongst the West Ham squad.

The Czech international, who was awarded the Club’s Players’ Project award for his contributions to the local community, said: “It’s probably one of the toughest places to go, and our record there is poor, but that streak has to finish at some point, so why not on Sunday ?” the Irons defender told the club’s Official Website.

Coufal went on to add: “I know lots of Arsenal fans will be cheering us on, but for us we want to give the manager a positive send off. We all know it’s going to be hard, but after doing it at home against Luton we hope we can do it away as well.”

The fixture against Manchester City will be David Moyes’ 261st game in charge of West Ham and will bring his four and a half year second spell to a close. Moyes signed Coufal in October 2020, the fullback has since gone on to make over 150 appearances for the Hammers and of course won the Conference League under the Scotsman.

Coufal is full of praise for Moyes and his impact on his career: “I’m so grateful to him because he brought me in and gave me an opportunity to play in the Premier League. I was an unknown player at the start and nobody trusted me, but he did.” said Coufal, going on to add: “I’ve always given him my best because I never want to disappoint him, and although it’s sad he’s not going to be here next year I am happy that together we have made so many amazing memories.”
