West Ham have made Arsenal fans look incredibly silly over the past few days.

The large majority of West Ham fans were happy to lose to Manchester City if it meant Arsenal didn’t win the league. The cockiness, the arrogance and the pure irritation that West Ham fans, as well as the wider football world, would have had to put up with if Arsenal were Champions of England just was not worth it, especially when they couldn’t finish any higher or lower than 9th.

Fortunately, the world does not have to put up with any smugness from the Gunners as the Hammers were defeated 3-1 by Manchester City on the last day of the season. After their fans were begging West Ham to beat City for a week and were trying to be the best of friends, they would come to begrudge their London rivals for the result, but perhaps more so for something even funnier.

Within the first 20 minutes of the game, Foden had already scored a brace but, thanks to a Kudus stunner, the Irons cut the deficit in half in the 42nd minute. Shortly after, a hero was born. Someone, who’s identity remains a mystery, started a rumour at the Emirates that West Ham had equalised before half-time. This made waves round the stadium and caused Arsenal fans to celebrate believing that the title was back in their control. Obviously, this was not the case.

Whoever that person is, they created one of the funniest moments of the season and we can only thank them for rattling Arsenal fans even more.

Unsurprisingly, they didn’t take defeat very gracefully. Their fans have instead decided to rip into the East London faithful, particularly over videos of both sets of fans at the Etihad singing about Arsenal.

As disappointing as it will be for them, if they didn’t mess it up, we wouldn’t have had to sing it. Saka’s bottle of sauce, the Prime Arsenal bottle – the jokes write themselves. Ultimately though, if they beat little old West Ham at their ground they wouldn’t have had to rely on City dropping points and they wouldn’t be so bitter right now.
