Wonder-kid’s manager confesses to being “worried” about losing his star player to West Ham.
With the season now at an end for West Ham, and with Julen Lopetegui unveiled as David Moyes’ successor, the club’s full attention can be on recruiting for their massive rebuild. Considering how many players they need to bring in, it’s good to see the club are finally trying to do their business early.
While their central defenders are certainly the biggest area for concern, there are plenty of other positions they need to add, such as the left wing. Fortunately, the recruitment are hard at work trying to make things happen and one of the players they are said to be close to signing is Wesley Gassova.
The 19-year-old has caught the attention of clubs across Europe but it’s the Hammers who are leading the race for his signature. His dribbling in particular is on another level and he has the potential to be the next big thing.
Unsurprisingly, Corinthians boss Antonio Oliveira is desperate to keep hold of his star player and is concerned about what effect losing him will have on the team. “I am worried. I am a coach and I want those who can help us achieve something, he is fundamental. Therefore, it [losing him] is something that worries me as a coach,” he confessed.
Obviously the Brazilian league isn’t the richest, and Corinthians would earn good money for Wesley, replacing him will be near impossible though. However, his words show just how much he rates the winger, and it can only be a good sign for our Irons if they do get the deal over the line.
