West Ham are not willing to meet the asking price for Brazilian wonder-kid which has doubled since talks began.

In a shock twist of events, West Ham are actually trying to get their business done as early in the window as possible. Usually, they wait until the final few weeks and it always leaves fans incredibly frustrated.

In fact, they’ve all but completed their first signing of the Summer in Brazilian centre-back Fabrico Bruno. However, the Hammers are not done in Brazil quite yet as they look to get a deal over the line for Wesley Gassova.

When reports broke that Corinthians had rejected a bid in the region of £12 million for their homegrown prodigy, Brazilian media mocked the club. Fortunately for them, they’ve proved everyone right as the 19-year-olds form has improved drastically and he’s been absolutely sensational as of late.

However, West Ham may regret not paying the £18 million the Brazilian giants were demanding previously as they’re now holding out for nearly double that: £30 million, according to The Sun.

This is not only a significant amount of their transfer budget, but it also makes the risk of signing Gassova significantly higher. His previous price tag meant he could come in as a prospect who doesn’t have any pressure to perform, if he was signed for £30 million he’d simply have to hit the ground running.

Whether or not our Irons wish to still sign him for such a large sum remains to be seen, but they will certainly be assessing other options. Ultimately, they could still come to regret not signing him no matter the fee if he can fulfil the potential that he’s showing.
