West Ham player could surprisingly be the subject of a bidding war despite an awful season.

Sometimes you see a new signing who you think could be absolutely sensational once he’s adjusted to the Premier League. Normally, they are able to live up the expectations, unfortunately that’s not always the case.

Frustratingly, Nayef Aguerd is certainly one of those who just isn’t suited to the Premier League. He has all the makings of a top, modern day centre-half but he just hasn’t been able to cut out those mistakes in his game.

You could argue that he should be given a chance under Julen Lopetegui’s side where the style of player would suit his attributes but, ultimately, the Moroccan wants to leave and many fans have seen enough.

Much to everyone’s surprise though, not only has he attracted the interest of multiple clubs but they may be willing to enter a bidding war for him. According to Football Insider and other sources, his former club Rennes, Lyon and Atletico Madrid are all keen on acquiring his services.

They’re all willing to bid £30-£35 million which is around what West Ham paid for him, and they may go higher. The fact the Hammers may be able to recover not just what they paid for him but even more is sensational and would do wonders for their transfer budget as they look to rebuild their squad.

We may not have seen the best of Nayef Aguerd at West Ham, but hopefully he will be able to perform at the levels he’s clearly able to when playing abroad.
