West Ham’s Tim Steidten is in Brazil working on a number of potential deals, with ExWHUEmployee providing an update on the situation.
Despite the club looking close to securing our first major signing of the summer this week in Fabricio Bruno of Flamengo, the move has hit a significant snag, with our Technical Director Steidten currently working to resolve.
Reporting on The West Ham Way Patreon, our club insider Ex has advised that the deal isn’t dead just yet, but alternatives are in place should it fall through, which is looking likely at this stage.
“Despite the transfer fee being agreed with Flamengo and terms accepted by his agent, Fabricio Bruno has now asked for more money,” stated our Podcast co-host. “We understand that he and his wife are expecting a new baby, and want significantly more to uproot the family to London.
“It is thought that Tim Steidten is trying to resurrect the deal and is in Brazil, but the demands have changed so dramatically – having originally being given the thumbs up. West Ham haven’t entirely given up on the player but this does show that things can change quickly.
“Whilst he is in Brazil it appears that Steidten is also trying to negotiate a deal for an attacking midfielder/winger. We have revealed for a long time now that Wesley Gassova was a top target. It is thought that talks are still on going with his club Corinthians at this stage.
“It appears that talks have also happened with Luis Guilherme of Palmeiras. This transfer is also likely to prove quite difficult with a number of clubs also interested in the player including reportedly Liverpool and Brentford amongst others.”
Ex has reported that the club are also keeping tabs on other options, with Jacob Greives of Hull a player the club highly admire and could well move for, especially if the Bruno transfer does not materialise.
Ex will be keeping fans fully up to date on all transfer activity as it develops, on The West Ham Way Patreon.
