West Ham could be in big trouble as one of the biggest clubs in the world eyes up star player.
With the result of the ongoing situation with Lucas Paqueta still up in the air, one thing looks certain and that’s that the result isn’t good for West Ham either way. Either the player gets banned or it drags on even longer. Either way, the Hammers have lost out on £85 million that they were planning on using in their budget.
Unfortunately, some have speculated that the club will now look to sell another one of their most valuable assets in order to make up the money. While there doesn’t seem to be much need for this considering they’ve made record profits, if they receive an offer they can’t refuse then their hands could be forced.
Considering that Jarrod Bowen is on a 7 year contract, it leaves Mohammed Kudus as the only real option. The Ghanaian wonder-kid has a release clause in his contract but it doesn’t come into effect until next Summer.
However, according to the Express, Manchester United could look to sign him before then. Unfortunately for them, they could face competition from their bitter rivals Liverpool in the event that Mo Salah leaves.
With the size of the rebuild that’s needed, it is hard to imagine that the owners would want to make Julen Lopetegui’s job any harder. It would undoubtedly take a monstrous sum of money to take Kudus away from the Hammers and it remains to be seen if any clubs have the capacity for that right now.
