An ex West Ham player has backed Julen Lopetegui to do an excellent job as their new head coach.
While he seems to have the backing of the entire West Ham fanbase, Julen Lopetegui was far from anyone’s first choice. Despite having an impressive CV, it seemed like the cheap, easy and uninspiring option.
Many pundits share the same opinion and the majority seem to believe he is a downgrade on David Moyes. However, he has recently gained the backing of an ex West Ham star.
Matt Jarvis has come out and stated that he believes the Spaniard has “all the credentials” to build upon the foundations that Moyes laid. “I think he has got a point to prove as well now,” he told TALKsport.
“I think he is going to come to a West Ham squad that’s a very, very good squad. He is going to want to add to that, and I think West Ham do need to bring in players.”
“But he is going to need to hit the ground running, he is going to need his staff to make sure they are on top of everything because now people are looking at him after the Wolves thingy, thinking his CV is very, very good and now he has got to go and prove it. I think he has got all the credentials to do really well at West Ham.”
Lopetegui has clearly had his eye on a move to the Hammers for a while now and he has made it categorically clear that the East London outfit was his first choice. Hopefully he can carry over the bags of experience and make history at West Ham.
