West Ham are eyeing up Argentinian bruiser to improve upon their leaky defence.

As a fanbase, West Ham are extremely partial to a player who likes to get stuck in. It’s probably carried on from when proper hard men like Julian Dicks were wearing the claret and blue. This grit is what has made the likes of Edson Alvarez and Vladimir Coufal fan favourites but the Hammers are lacking in that defensive determination when it comes to their centre-backs.

Angelo Ogbonna was once great at this but he’s now left the club, Kurt Zouma doesn’t have the legs for it anymore and it’s just not the type of player that Nayef Aguerd is. Fortunately, the recruitment team has apparently identified someone who can come in and do the dirty work.

According to talkSPORT, West Ham are preparing a bid worth £13.5 million for Nehuén Perez. The Argentine has been a mainstay in the Udinese side for a number of years and his immense performances have seen him capped for his national side.

He possesses some of the best ball winners in Serie A and his aerial ability is also sensational. While he is prone to a yellow card, that’s just the way he likes to play.

Ideally, a bid that low would be accepted but it seems incredibly unlikely. He’s a brilliant player and, at just 23-years-old, he has plenty of room to develop. Even if they were charging closer to £25 million, that would probably be a fair price – perhaps even more.
