West Ham are considering a move for an out of favour Premier League winger in the Summer transfer window.
For once, Gareth Southgate has finally picked his England squad mostly on form rather than who his favourite are. This has still caused a lot of controversy given the likes of Tomori, Grealish and Solanke have all been left out of the Euros squad.
Unfortunately, it’s also seen some players who Southgate previously relied on no matter what form they were in left out of the squad. For some of them, the only way to get back in the Three Lion’s setup may be a move away from the club they’re currently at, which is certainly the case for Raheem Sterling.
At one point, the winger had the world at his feet. He was consistently doing wonders at Manchester City, scoring ten or more goals in 5 consecutive Premier League seasons. Frustratingly for him his services were no longer required and he was sold to Chelsea.
While his move to Stamford Bridge has been far from a failure, he hasn’t caught the eyes of everyone and has been a bit underwhelming. Things have gone from bad to worse recently as, according to TBR, Chelsea no longer have him in their plans.
Since joining the Blues, he’s managed 21 goal involvements in 59 league games which is still decent, but nowhere near the standards he had previously set for himself.
In order to get his career back on track he will need to move away. He does have interest from the likes of the MLS, but he is keen on staying in the Premier League. West Ham are considering making a move for the Englishman as they are in desperate need of an out-and-out left-winger in their side.
The big stumbling blocks could be to do with money. What sort of fee Chelsea would be willing to sell him for remains a mystery and his wage demands are likely to be well above what the board would like to pay making a deal potentially tricky to conduct.
