West Ham have reportedly secured their second signing of the window after getting a bid accepted for a South American forward.

While Tim Steidten’s trips to South America have mainly seen West Ham linked with Brazilians, there are potential hidden gems from other nations playing in the Série A.

You’d expect the majority of them to be young players with lots of potential as otherwise there would be questions as to why they’ve not played at a higher level, but that’s not always the case. Sometimes they just have been overlooked and that may just be the case with Jhon Arias.

The Colombian forward can play in a variety of positions but he is at his best on the right wing. Last season, the 26-year-old managed 14 goal involvements in the league. His mixture of pace and skill make him a handful for defenders.

Interestingly, RTI Esporte reports that the Hammers are not only interested in acquiring his services but they’ve actually had an £11 million bid accepted by Fluminense.

Not only could this represent great value for money, but it also could massively help the Hammers with their depth issue considering how many positions he can play in. Unless he impresses, it’s unlikely he will be a regular starter but he could become a pivotal player nonetheless, especially if they manage to back into Europe next season.
