Southampton are looking to get the band back together by bringing in West Ham outcast to play with Adam Lallana.

Certain players just scream ‘West Ham’. It’s not something you can really describe but you can just see someone and know that they’ll end up in claret and blue. Danny Ings is arguably one of the best examples of this.

Before joining the Hammers, he had enjoyed an unbelievable spell at Southampton followed by an ok, albeit uninspiring, run at Aston Villa. He came in at a time where West Ham were desperate for goals and he was seen as the solution to their struggles. Unfortunately, for the first time in his career, Ings failed to make any sort of impact in front of goal.

While he did look much better in his second season at the club, he still only scored 1 goal and in order to raise funds, as well as get his massive wage off the books, West Ham are keen to sell the Englishman this Summer.

Thankfully, they may just have a buyer in his former club Southampton, the Daily Mail reports. The Saints have just re-signed their ex player Adam Lallana and it looks like this is a theme they will continue. Ings scored 46 goals in 100 games for Southampton between 2019 and 2021, making it understandable why they would want to bring back such an experienced goalscorer.

Russell Martin is clearly putting together a squad with the focus being the present rather than the long-term future which is probably for the best. His side are willing to offer up to £6 million which may not be a lot, but it’s the load of his wages being lifted that will really make a difference financially to our Irons.
