Julen Lopetegui could end up having an unbelievable defensive partnership if West Ham bring in these two centre-backs.

If there was only one area West Ham could add to this Summer, it would have to be the centre-backs. Countless times the defence cost the Hammers last season and it’s one of the key reasons that David Moyes lost his job.

Obviously it’s not an easy task, but the goal is to move forward and build upon the foundations Moyes has laid. To do this, the club needs to provide Julen Lopetegui with two brilliant centre-backs this Summer.

As our own ExWHUEmployee exclusively revealed, the Hammers still hold interest in signing Max Kilman. The Wolves captain has been sensational under Gary O’Neil and it’s a shock he didn’t get any sort of look in to be in the England squad.

According to Hammers.news, the East London side are looking to pair him with Riccardo Calafiori. The Italian defender was excellent for Bologna in their record breaking season and he earned himself a place in the Italy squad for the Euros. He may have only played one season in Serie A, but the 22-year-old plays like a seasoned veteran.

Pairing those two together will be anything but cheap; that’s the price you have to pay though if you want to compete at the top. What it would be is an exceptional partnership whose mixture of abilities could complement each other perfectly.
