West Ham could lose one of their most important players as one of the biggest clubs in the world is considering signing him.

In order to give Julen Lopetegui the biggest chance of success at West Ham, it’s important that they build upon their (mostly) strong starting XI. What’s even more crucial is that they keep hold of their key players and build around them rather than selling for a profit.

Unfortunately, when PSR is such an issue for the majority of clubs it’s much harder to justify keeping someone if the potential buyer offers a massive sum. Especially now Paquetá is highly unlikely to get his expected move to Manchester City, the Hammers board could potentially be tempted into selling.

Much to the dismay of the East London faithful, Manchester United are considering a move for Edson Alvarez in the event that Casemiro leaves, Fabrizio Romano has reported. “Man United, seriously considering to bring in also new midfielder — almost sure in case Casemiro leaves,” he posted on X

“Understand Mexico captain Edson Álvarez is one of the option discussed internally, appreciated by ten Hag. It’s difficult deal, as West Ham considers him as key player.”

Manchester United do have a habit of low balling on genuinely great players and overspending on mediocre ones. Hopefully this means that the midfield general stays at the London Stadium as he’s quickly become a pivotal player on and off the pitch. His personality and leadership have him as one of the favourites to be the Hammers’ next captain so it clearly says a lot about how he’s viewed by fans as well as his teammates.
