West Ham are plotting a move for a young, English star from Hull City – but it’s not who fans will expect.

Over recent months, West Ham have been repeatedly linked with a move for Hull City defender Jacob Greaves. The 23-year-old has been immense for the Tigers and has been a staple in the starting XI for 4 full seasons now.

Considering how desperately the Hammers need to improve upon their defence, he could be the perfect signing. Surprisingly though, according to TEAMtalk, it’s not Greaves that stands out at Hull to West Ham – it’s not even a defender at all.

Despite the centre-backs being the area they need to improve upon most, it is reported that winger Jaden Philogene is someone they are keen on signing.

The 22-year-old emerged as one of the Championship’s best young prospects over the last season, scoring 12 goals and assisting 6 in 32 Championship games. He is at his best on the left, but can play virtually anywhere and he even has great defensive contributions.

On top of this, he is bursting with pace, has excellent dribbling and sensational finishing. All of this combined with the fact he’s homegrown makes it a no brainer to secure his services if they’re available for a reasonable fee.
