Another Premier League club has entered the race to sign a West Ham star on a free transfer in the coming weeks.

Nothing is ever simple when it comes to West Ham. We’ve already seen this season how quickly deals can fall through despite looking absolutely nailed on.

At one point, it looked highly likely that Ben Johnson would be departing his boyhood club when his contract expires at the end of the month. However, the Hammers had made massive progress in getting him to sign a new deal.

Unfortunately, a number of clubs have once more laid out their desire to sign the defender and he could be tempted to leave by their improved offers.

Amongst multiple premier League teams, including Crystal Palace and Southampton, Ipswich Town have now emerged as a potential candidate to secure his signature, our own ExWHUEmployee exclusively revealed on The West Ham Way Patreon. The newly promoted side will have a massive job on their hands to stay up next season, but securing an experienced, talented player like Johnson could massively boost their chances of survival.

His decision doesn’t seem to have been made just yet, but this is set to come soon. Hopefully Julen Lopetegui and his team can do enough to convince the 24-year-old to fight for his place in the side to become first-choice right-back.
