Ben Johnson has rejected a new deal at West Ham and will be signing for Ipswich Town, it has been reported by ExWHUEmployee.
Our Podcast co-host and club insider advised on the news on The West Ham Way Patreon, which is a blow considering the player was edging closer to signing a new offer from the club in recent days.
“We can exclusively reveal that Ben Johnson will be joining Ipswich Town immediately in the next day or two.” stated Ex on Patreon.
“He has turned down a 5 year deal by West Ham and will be joining the Tractor Boys as they return to the Premier League. Johnson was on the brink of accepting a new deal but it appears Ipswich have offered him a great contract with clear first team opportunities.”
Although the player hasn’t put pen to paper with Ipswich, there is still a chance he’ll change his mind, but it appears at this stage it is highly unlikely and Johnson will depart the club he’s been at for his entire career to date.
“All that is left is for the player to sign the paper work which should be done in the next day or so of course he could change his mind in that time but this seems very unlikely,” added Ex.
