West Ham star could rejoin former club as recruitment team hunts for replacement.
Despite some exciting names being signed, West Ham have still failed to find a suitable replacement for Michail Antonio. The clubs have brought in the likes of Sebastian Haller and Gianluca Scamacca but both have failed to impress in claret and blue. The Italian scored just 3 Premier League goals in his season at the club, while the Ivorian scored 10 across 2 campaigns.
Although he has been a key player for David Moyes over the years, his form over the past couple of seasons has taken a massive dip. While that did improve towards the end of last term, it’s still pivotal that the recruitment team finally find a replacement for him this Summer.
Given that Julen Lopetegui is said to be a big fan of the Jamaican international you’d expect him to still play a vital role as a squad player or impact sub. However, he may not get what he wishes as, according to Claret and Hugh, Antonio could be on the move this Summer.
It is believed that his former employer Nottingham Forest are keen on resigning him. Obviously he’s changed a lot since leaving Forest, he was a right-back when he was there, but he’d probably represent good value for money for a club that is struggling with financial regulations
