According to TalkSPORT, Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran could be a target for West Ham United once again this summer.
West Ham United have added themselves to a long list of contenders for Colombian forward Jhon Duran, Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea have also had a long standing interest.
The same report from talkSPORT suggests that Unai Emery would be happy for Duran to leave this summer as he isn’t seen as a major part of the Spaniard’s plans this summer.
In January, talkSPORT sources confirmed that Aston Villa turned down West Ham’s approach for the attacker. At the time, Unai Emery wanted to keep the Colombian around to support Ollie Watkins. However, that has now changed.
Hammers boss Julen Lopetegui is keen to bring more goals to the attack this season and Duran has been identified as one of many targets. The club could make a move this week, as reports suggest Tim Steidten is looking to sign a striker now the Max Kilman deal has been completed.
The club could have to wait a while to make a move for Duran as he is currently representing Colombia at the Copa America in the USA. The 6 foot striker has only made one appearance in four games so far, as he is behind River Plate striker Rafael Santos Borré in the pecking order.
The young Colombian joined Aston Villa from MLS side Chicago Fire for £18m in July 2023. Duran has only made a handful of starts for the Villains, but has impressed off the bench on many occasions. He has scored 8 goals in 49 matches during his time at Villa Park, which is a goal every 153 minutes.
Chelsea have been heavily linked to a move for Duran, however their interest seems to have cooled after signing Omari Kellyman from Aston Villa and Marc Guiu from Barcelona.
