West Ham are continuing to look to add firepower to the squad this summer, with ExWHUEmployee providing an update.

As reported previously, the club are making bringing in a new striker a priority amongst others and will be expecting to make some moves within the market over the coming days.

Our insider Ex has further provided an update on the situation, with it understood the club are looking at a former key target.

“A transfer that we exclusively revealed on the 29th May, that had a chance of happening, is starting to gather momentum,” stated Ex.  “ Kelchi Iheanacho, a Nigerian international, who has been linked with us way back since Slaven Bilic’s days is again on the target list.

”Iheanacho is a free agent having left newly promoted Leicester City. Aston Villa and Wolves are said to be also in the mix for the player.”

The club are also looking at other forwards so it’s unclear at this stage if Iheanacho would be seen as a main striker option or a squad player.

West Ham are also expected to offload players this summer, with Danny Ings considered one whose future is uncertain. Ex has confirmed that his former club Southampton have made a move for the former Liverpool hitman.

“Southampton did make a £6m offer for Danny Ings, 3 weeks ago and West Ham offered to subsidise some of his wages but the player turned down the move,” added Ex.

“Southampton are considering making another offer and attempt to convince the player.”
