While Newcastle may like to sign Jarrod Bowen, West Ham’s demands make it extremely unlikely.
To become a club legend in just 5 years isn’t an easy task, but scoring a 90th minute winner to secure the club’s first trophy in 43 years certainly helps. For that goal alone, Jarrod Bowen will be forever remembered as an icon amongst West Ham fans, however it goes far beyond just that strike.
From his relationship with the daughter of Danny Dyer, to the way he has conducted himself off the pitch, not to mention the brilliance he’s shown on it, it’s impossible not to love Bowen. He has bought into what it means to be a Hammer and is undoubtedly the face of the club.
Unfortunately, consistently performing at the level he has been was always going to attract the attention of other clubs and, according to Football Insider, he’s one of Newcastle’s top targets this Summer.
Losing out on the Englishman to a European rival would be disastrous and cause outrage amongst West Ham fans. Thankfully, it’s extremely unlikely he will move for a number of reasons.
Firstly, the club values him at £100 million and will not go below that due to the fact they do not want to sell him as well as him being on a 7 year contract.
Secondly, perhaps even more importantly, Bowen is extremely happy at the London Stadium. He’s the star man, he’s in line to be the next captain, he is the father of one of the biggest West Ham fans going grandchild and he has a special relationship with the fans. He has stated how he wants to end his career in claret and blue, so it’s fair to say he won’t be going anywhere.
Newcastle can try to sign him all they like, and they may be confident they can get him for less than £100 million, but they simply won’t.
