West Ham fans could have seen the last of a former fan favourite player.

Over recent years, West Ham fans have been treated to watching some brilliant central defenders. Angelo Ogbonna, Craig Dawson and Winston Reid are just a few of them, but unfortunately their time at the club has come and gone.

Unfortunately, it seems like another fan favourite defender could have played his last game for West Ham as Kurt Zouma could be on the way out of the club this Summer, Claret and Hugh reports.

Since joining from Chelsea back in 2021, the Frenchman has played a pivotal part in helping the club transform into one that consistently fights for Europe. Particularly in his first two seasons at the club, he put in some impeccable performances and was named captain ahead of the 2023/24 season following Declan Rice’s departure.

Unfortunately, things have only gone downhill from there. Despite being an extremely popular character in the dressing room, Zouma clearly lacks a lot of the qualities required of a captain. On top of this, his repeated knee injuries have had a massive impact on his mobility, causing his overall game to drop massively and, in all honesty, he’s been a liability at times – hence why the Hammers conceded a record breaking 74 Premier League goals.

However, these mobility issues mixed with high wages and the fact he has just 12 months remaining on his contract could put any potential buyers off. In an ideal world, the club would probably like to get rid of him, it just might not be possible.
