West Ham have reportedly submitted a bid to sign a striker from their London rivals.

After finally getting their top defensive target in Max Kilman, all of West Ham’s attention can now turn to signing a striker. It’s a position that has brought the club many issues over recent years so it’s a great opportunity for Tim Steidten to prove his worth.

As usual, the Hammers are weighing up a number of options and are trying to find which one represents the best value for money. Obviously, there’s been strong links with Jhon Duran and Jonathan David, so many believe they are the two options the club favour the most. However, it could be someone else they go for entirely.

According to a report from AfricaFoot, West Ham have submitted a £12.6 million bid for David Datro Fofana. The Chelsea forward spent last season on loan to both Union Berlin and Burnley. Across both loan spells, he only managed to score 6 goals in all competitions. He did hit a really impressive patch of form for the Clarets towards the end of the season, but he wasn’t able to sustain it.

At just 21-years-old, he has plenty of room to improve and he does have some characteristics that could turn him into a prolific goal scorer. As he showed with his stunner at the London Stadium, he can strike a ball unbelievably well. Given the time, he could really develop into a great striker, but the issue is that West Ham don’t really have time to spare.

If he was signed as a backup option, then it would be a great deal but our Irons desperately need someone who’s going to come in and do the business from the off – it’s hard to imagine the young man doing that.
