Despite already signing 3 players this Summer, West Ham are not even halfway done with their business.
Everyone knew that West Ham needed a massive Summer ahead of the transfer window, but not everyone realised just how big it would have to be.
The Hammers’ already thin squad has been depleted further, mainly by expiring contracts, which means a large number of signings have to be made. They’ve already brought in three players: Max Kilman for £40 million, Luis Guilherme for £25 million and Wes Foderingham on a free transfer.
However, according to Hammers News, the club are not even halfway done with their business as they want to bring in at least five more players before the window closes, bringing the total of additions up to 8.
Although the priority is certainly signing a striker to finally replace Michail Antonio, it may be the case that a right-back is signed in order to provide competition to Vladimir Coufal with Kyle Walker-Peters being the most likely replacement.
While things went quiet for a little while, now that Southampton have agreed a fee with the Irons for Flynn Downes, it could snowball into the East London side bringing in some players of their own. Tim Steidten has a tough job on his hands but, if he gets things right, West Ham may be able to break the mould by fighting for European football year after year.
