Lucas Paqueta’s rumoured antics are baffling and disrespectful to West Ham if true.
Since his alleged involvement in a betting scandal stopped his big move to Manchester City last Summer, West Ham have given Lucas Paqueta nothing but love and support. Both the staff and the fans have made it clear that they’ll do everything they can to help him through a tough period.
Unfortunately, as the season went on, the midfielder failed to repay the favour on the pitch all that often. This is believed to be because of the stress of the allegations, which is understandable. Even with these poor performances, the Irons continued to back the Brazilian which is something you’d expect him to appreciate.
Despite this unconditional love, Paqueta seemingly doesn’t want to show just how much it means as he is desperate to sign for Flamengo, according to Julio Miguel Neto. “The midfielder continues to help and make an effort to secure a transfer for at least a year on loan to the Rio de Janeiro club,” the journalist told Rubio News TV.
If this is the case, it’s utterly baffling for so many reasons. It just doesn’t make sense as to why he would want to join a club outside of Europe, especially after all the Hammers have done for him. The only reason there is really is if he thinks he will be found guilty, but if he is he’s highly likely to get a worldwide ban.
At the end of the day, our Irons will not let him leave on loan as it makes no sense for them and Flamengo are never going to be able to afford him, so it all feels a bit pointless really. Paqueta has always been extremely respectful to West Ham even when he wanted to leave, so it’s hard to imagine that he’s kicking up much of a fuss over something that he knows is improbable.
