Billy Horschel has certainly captured peoples attention with his performances at The Open. It is not only his performances that have caught peoples eyes, his golf bag has become a topic of discussion too.

In The Open, as things stand, the American is in an excellent position and has a great chance of winning his first major, this is down to him hitting five under par with two holes still to be played in the third round.

Horschel’s claret and blue golf bag has been noticed by golfing fans and has certainly had people talking. The reason behind the American sporting a claret and blue golf bag is due to the fact he is a massive West Ham United fan and has been for a number of years.

Speaking to media outlets going into The Open, Horschel discussed his love for the Hammers and the support he has received from English football supporters.

Horschel said: “Listen, whenever I come over here I try to get the West Ham bag out and hear ‘Up the Hammers’ and ‘Come on you Irons’. I’ve been very fortunate that other supporters of other clubs have been gracious enough to be nice to me compared to how they may be to a fellow English person supporting a West Ham fan !”

West Ham are currently preparing for two pre season fixtures in the US, with games taking place in both Jacksonville and Tampa. Horschel is excited about the Hammers lining up under new head coach Julen Lopetegui: “I think Julen is going to do a good job” said Horschel, adding: “I’m excited listening. David Moyes was awesome. He took the club from one spot to another and I think it was time to pass the torch and I think Julen will do a good job,” it was reported in the Mirror.
