According to Football Insider, West Ham United have added Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah to their striker shortlist this summer.

Pete O’Rourke revealed on the Football Insider’s ‘Inside Track Podcast’ that the Hammers are considering a move for the 25-year-old as Julen Lopetegui is desperate to reinforce his striker options before the start of the season.

However, the East Londoners will have to move fast, as Olympique Marseille are also interested in the Englishman. According to Foot Mercato Journalist Santi Aouna, the Ligue 1 giants have sent an initial proposal to Arsenal for Nketiah. Fabrizio Romano also confirmed he is the club’s main target after confirming the signing of fellow Englishman Mason Greenwood from Manchester United.

The Hammers do still have hope but will need to move quickly if they want the former Leeds loanee to lead the line at the London Stadium this season. Santi Aouna confirmed that no agreement between Marseille and Arsenal as of yet.

It is unclear how much Marseille’s proposal for Nketiah was for, however, the Gunners are reportedly looking for around £25-30m. It is unlikely Marseille will be able to pay that after spending a similar amount on bringing Greenwood to the Orange Velodrome. Giving the Hammers a huge chance to swoop in.

However, this does remain unlikely, while Nketiah is on the club’s shortlist, he isn’t too high up with the likes of Alexander Sorloth, Jhon Duran, and Samu Omorodion above the Arsenal man in the pecking order for Julen Lopetegui.
