West Ham have been handed a massive boost in their chance of signing their top striker target.
So far, it’s been a real rollercoaster of a window for West Ham. They’ve been close to signing players just for the deal to fall through at the last minute, they’ve signed their top target in Max Kilman, and they’ve been linked with some unbelievable players.
However, the twists continue as they could still sign their top striker target despite not being willing to meet his club’s demands.
Jhon Duran is clearly someone Tim Steidten sees as the ideal replacement to Michail Antonio. The Colombian forward hasn’t had many opportunities for Aston Villa, but the ones he has got he’s seized with both hands. Unfortunately for him, being a backup for one of the Premier League’s best strikers means that it takes a lot more than a few goals to get a fair crack at the whip.
For that exact reason, Duran is set to push for a move away, according to GIVEMESPORT, with him apparently preferring a move to the London Stadium over anywhere else.
What this could mean is that Villa are forced to lower their demands below the £40 million reported, allowing the Hammers to sign him.
While he isn’t the most experienced, he’d certainly head into the season as West Ham’s starting striker for the amount it would set the club back. He’s young, hungry and wants to wear the claret and blue in East London, pair all that with the natural talent he clearly possesses and it is a real recipe for success. Hopefully this development will allow for progress to be made soon so Lopetegui can start work with him as soon as possible.
