Just on day ago, Matteo Moretto reported that West Ham United were evaluating the possibility of signing the 23/24 LaLiga top scorer Artem Dovbyk from Girona.
However, West Ham United’s chase of the Ukrainian was short-lived to say the least. Dovbyk is now on his way to Madrid to sign for Spanish giants Atletico Madrid, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian journalist has reported that the final details are being sorted on the payment structure between Girona and Atletico, they will pay the full €40m release clause for the Ukraine International. Dovbyk has already agreed personal terms with los Rojiblancos, so a move is imminent.
Artem Dovbyk would have been a brilliant option for the Hammers. The 27-year-old scored a huge 25 goals and provided ten assist in LaLiga last season for Girona. €40m looks like a bargain for the man that has also bagged ten goals in 31 appearances for Ukraine.
West Ham seem to have prioritised a move for Jhon Duran this summer, Julen Lopetegui is desperate to bring the 20-year-old Colombian international to the club. He is expected to cost the club around £35-40m. Duran is keen on a switch to East London, he is expected to tell Villa he wants the move this week and has deleted all Aston Villa photos from his Instagram page.
