West Ham are turning their attention to AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori, it has been reported by ExWHUEmployee.
As has been stated previously, the club are continuing explore further central defensive reinforcements this summer, despite the arrival of Max Kilman from Wolves for £40m.
A key reason for this is due to the uncertainty surrounding Nayef Aguerd, who its understood is open to a move away from east London this transfer window. The importance of a new defender was also heightened at the weekend, with Kurt Zouma in heavy-duty ice packs around both knees following 45 minutes of game time against Dagenham & Redbridge.
“Kurt Zouma’s contract is up at the end of the season and this seems unlikely to be renewed at this stage and there are still concerns over Aguerd and whether he will want to remain at the club for another season,” stated Ex on The West Ham Way Patreon.
“The defender has interest from France and Saudi Arabia and it is thought that should a significant offer come in, West Ham will accept this.”
A key target previously was Jean-Clair Todibo of Nice, however it appears he will most likely move to Juventus this summer, so the club have now turned their attentions to other options – one of which is Fikayo Tomori.
The England international, who came through the ranks at Chelsea, is currently with Italian giants AC Milan, however a move back to the capital to play in the Premier League could well be temping for the defender.
“Tomori is a target and the club are exploring this, however the fee at this stage is likely to be too high for any deal to be reached,” stated Ex on The West Ham Way Podcast.
“Although he plays for a club like AC Milan, the opportunity to return to London with West Ham plus be in the Premier League could prove tempting – it could well help boost his England career.
“At this stage its a difficult transfer for the club to pull off, with it understood that AC Milan are not keen on selling the player – but we are exploring the deal along with other potential signings.”
Other targets for this position also include Oumar Solet of Red Bull Salzburg and Trevoh Challobah of Chelsea.
