An Ex West Ham United star has given his two cents on whether his former club should sign £35 million defender.
Although West Ham started the transfer window very strongly, getting the signings of both Luis Guilherme and Max Kilman over the line very early. Unfortunately, since then things have stagnated and the Hammers have failed to make any real progress with any of their targets.
However, that doesn’t mean that it’s time to worry, it simply means that the club is evaluating who represents the best value for money. Mohammed Kudus, James Ward-Prowse, Mavropanos and Edson Alvarez were all brought in after 10th August last Summer so there’s really no reason to be concerned.
Alongside a striker, a right-back, and a winger, the Hammers are keen to bring in another central defender to play alongside Kilman. While there’s been a few players that fans would love to see at the club linked with a move to East London, none have got them more excited than Fikayo Tomori.
Since joining AC Milan he’s established himself as a brilliant defender who has been extremely unlucky not to get into the England squad. He’s someone that many pundits and ex-players rate highly, including former Hammer Scott Minto, who believes he’d be the ideal partner to Kilman.
“Max Kilman is a player I like who has gone to one of my former clubs, West Ham,” Minto told talkSPORT. “I think he will be really good.”
“There’s talk about Fikayo Tomori perhaps being linked there as well. If they got those two in playing together and a centre-forward, then for me, West Ham would be very, very good going forward.”
Until either Nayef Aguerd or Kurt Zouma leaves, it’s hard to imagine our Irons paying the £35 million Milan are supposedly demanding but, he’d almost certainly be worth the money. Hopefully a deal can be reached because he is the sort of signing that could help the club push onto that next level.
