West Ham have reportedly enquired about a cheap striker with an awful goalscoring record.

What fans want to see brought into West Ham this Summer are exciting players who not only suit the rebuild, but suit the long-term vision of Julen Lopetegui. While not all of them need to be young, world beaters who are worth ridiculous amounts of money, they do need to be players that show signs of progress rather than regression.

Unfortunately, after being linked with the likes of Jhon Duran and Jonathan David to be their new No.9, things have taken a bad turn in the past day. According to Sports Witness, the Hammers have made contact with Juventus over the potential signing of Arkadiusz Milik.

Now 30-years-old, the Ajax academy graduate had so much potential to be a great player. In his first Eredivisie season, he scored 11 goals, following it up with 21 the season after. However, after that he left Ajax and, since then, he’s failed to reached double figures in any League – it’s been nearly 10 years!

During the last campaign, he made 32 Serie A appearances, finding the back of the net on only 4 occasions, which is an absolutely horrific return.

Although the Italian giants are only said to want around £5 million for his services, that would be £5 million too much. Signing him would be a kick in the teeth really, especially if he was the only forward signed. As a striker, you’re really only as good as the goals you score – if he’s not scoring any, why would our Irons want to bring him in?
