Pablo Fornals has once again proven that he is still a Hammer at heart, despite not playing for the club anymore.
When you speak to West Ham fans, almost all agree that they’d much rather a player that gives his all for the badge than a technically gifted player who couldn’t care less. Pablo Fornals is perhaps the perfect example of this.
Although he put in some great performances over his spell in East London, everyone knows he wasn’t the best player at the club. Despite this, he might be one of the most unanimously loved played the Hammers have ever had.
This love is certainly reciprocated, and it’s something he clearly appreciates as he claims that West Ham fans show him more love than the fans of Real Betis. “I’m in San Diego and the only person who has stopped me was a West Ham fan,” he explained. “For me, that is unreal. Every post I put on my Instagram, there are more responses from West Ham fans than any others. To still be remembered by all of the fans is such a great thing for me.”
However, the fan’s love for the Spaniard will only grow stronger after he revealed he has been helping Julen Lopetegui to settle into life in East London. “I was called by the new manager a few months ago. He wanted to know about how West Ham works.”
“I told him that it is a nice club – a family club. There are a lot of very good people there – I love them! I speak to them as many times as I can. They are not just players, they are my friends.”
It’s impossible not to love Pablo, everything he does and says is just perfect. He will certainly go down as a cult hero in the East End, not just for that goal in the Conference League semi-final, but for the pure joy he brought to the club. He really is one of a kind, he’s gone above and beyond consistently to praise his former employer as well as helping them in any way he can – what a man he is.
