West Ham youngster Emeka Adiele has signed his first professional contract with the club.
One thing that’s great to see in the current pool of youth players, the West Ham way hasn’t been lost: on them. The hard work, determination and desire to do everything you can for the badge is what has made so many of the players so highly rated.
It’s for these very reasons that Emeka Adiele was awarded his first professional contract on his 17th Birthday, as our own ExWHUEmployee revealed. He’s been at the club since he was 9-years-old so it’s no surprise that he admits to being extremely excited to take the next step in his career. “It’s a really nice feeling and I’m very grateful to be here with my family to celebrate this moment,” he told the official site.
“Growing up, they’ve always been there, supporting me, guiding me and making sure I’m doing the right things and staying focused. I’ve built really strong relationships with the coaches here. Lauris [Coggin] has been really good to me, and I look forward to playing more for the U21s under Mark [Robson].”
When looking forward, the young wing-back is very realistic in what he wants to achieve. He knows it will take a lot to get to the top, but he believes that if he puts his head down he can get there. My goal is of course to eventually train with the first team and longer term to make my debut,” he explained. “I’m ready to put in the hard work and we’ll see how things go.”
He’s consistently been playing in higher age groups, even playing for the U21s when he was 16. Hopefully he can keep developing and eventually break into the first team like he so desperately wants.
