Tim Steidten’s Brazil trips may not be over yet as West Ham eye another Serie A star.
While they did eventually bear fruit in the form of Luis Guilherme, Tim Steidten’s trips to Brazil became a bit of a joke amongst West Ham fans. What his reason for being so hellbent on signing someone from the South American nation still remains unknown, beyond just seeing the league as good value for money.
However, it seems like he may have to board that private jet to Brazil one last time as, according to TEAMtalk, he wants to sign another Palmeiras star.
Richard Rios is a Colombian midfielder who plays exactly how you’d expect a South American in his position to – lots of heart and lots of aggression. The report claims that the Brazilian side only wants £12 million for his services which, in today’s market, is a minuscule amount.
The 24-year-old has attracted interest from the likes of Everton, Leicester, and even Manchester United. As of right now, it seems like the Toffees are leading the race, but that could all change very fast.
Notably though, the Irons are said to be close to agreeing a deal with Guido Rodriguez. While slightly more defensive than Rios, it does beg the question whether or not the club really need another midfielder. They’ll already have sufficient depth and, realistically, the money would be put to better use elsewhere.
