Manchester United’s baffling decision has put West Ham’s deal for Aaron Wan-Bissaka in jeopardy.
Since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club, Manchester United has gone massively downhill, not just from a footballing perspective, but in every single way imaginable. The way the biggest club in the world is run is absolutely shambolic.
For the most part, it’s rather entertaining to witness as an outsider but, occasionally, it does have a knock on effect on other teams.
Although West Ham aren’t necessarily ones to talk, doing transfer negotiations with United is notoriously difficult as they tend to value their player way too high or change their mind at the last minute.
While nothing is agreed, it seems like the Hammers are finally getting close to finalising a fee with the Red Devils for the signature of Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Their desperate to sign another one of the East Londoners’ transfer targets. Noussair Mazraoui, means they will have to sell the Englishman.
You’d expect that to mean they do everything in their power to make sure a deal goes through, especially ensuring he doesn’t get injured, but Manchester United doesn’t work like other clubs.
It was such a ludicrous decision to play him in their preseason fixture against Liverpool that journalist Ryan Taylor has labelled them as “crazy”.
“Aaron Wan-Bissaka played more minutes (83) than any outfield Man Utd player last night in 3-0 defeat to Liverpool,” Taylor posted on X. “Crazy given West Ham agreement is close.”
“Obviously other moving parts (Noussair Mazraoui) but emphasises how badly Erik ten Hag is currently stretched [due to injuries].•
To make matters worse, he actually suffered injuries in the match and there was real fear that it could put a stop on the move. Fortunately they seem to be minor knocks which will have no effect on his ability to join the Irons, but it still goes to show how idiotic it was of United to even risk it.
