West Ham United set to miss out on signing Baris Alper Yilmaz this summer as Arsenal are preparing a £17m offer for the Galatasaray forward, according to a report from Sok Gazetesi

West Ham have had a brilliant summer window, and now look set to finally add Jean-Clair Todibo to the squad after selling Kurt Zouma. However. West Ham have received their first bit of bad news for a while as they are going to miss out on Yilmaz.

But it really isn’t that bad for West Ham, as they have already strengthened massively in attacking areas. The Turkish international is capable of playing all across the front line which would have provided the Hammers with a great option. But after signing Crysensio Summerville and Niclas Fullkrug to the ranks, there were much more pressing areas for the club to focus on. Most notably centre-back and full-back.

Yilmaz’s best position is off the right, and the club are already stacked in that position. Arguably the clubs two best players last season in Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus are both best playing on the right, so Yilmaz really seemed an unnecessary signing after the Summerville and Fullkrug arrivals. Julen Lopetegui arguably has the most talented front-line any West Ham manager has ever had to work with, he has Lucas Paqueta, Michail Antonio, Danny Ings, Maxwel Cornet and new Brazilian wonderkid Luis Guilherme to add to to the quality players already mentioned.
