West Ham are now unlikely to sign an exciting attacking midfielder.
The past couple of weeks have proven that getting rid of David Moyes in favour of Tim Steidten’s new recruitment set up was, purely from a transfer perspective, the right decision. They’ve made some monster signings and it looks like more could be coming through the door.
On the whole, their team is unbelievable but it’s their attack in particular which is exciting fans. The likes of Paqueta, Bowen, Kudus, Summerville and Fullkrug are all players who have the individual ability to cause havoc for defence, but combined they could be unstoppable.
However, there has been reports that they could add to this lethal frontline further by signing Celtic star Matt O’Riley, but journalist Dan Bardell can’t see this happening. “If Rodriguez has already come in, they’ve got Ward-Prowse, Soucek and Alvarez already, I can’t see it,” he told West Ham Zone.
“I wouldn’t see them dropping that sort of fee on another central midfielder. O’Riley has been linked to Chelsea as well so he’s clearly a talented player. Celtic have put a high valuation on his head so I don’t think he’ll be a priority signing.”
“Considering the money that West Ham have already spent this summer I don’t see that one happening at all.“
All things considered, he’s probably right. The attack is brilliant and the midfield has plenty of depth. Unless someone like James Ward-Prowse was to be sold, then it looks like a move could be off the cards.
