West Ham are reportedly looking to ship off four players before the transfer window closes, three of which have started both games this season.
Tim Steidten and his recruitment team have done an unbelievable job this Summer. Eight massive signings who all have their purpose in the squad, six of which could be regular starters for West Ham. However, the German doesn’t seem to be done with his business but in order to bring in further reinforcements he will have to shift some of the fringe players.
The Hammers have already spent a massive €144 million this window, according to transfermarkt, with very little players being sold. With the window closing in a matter of days, they’ll need to act fast.
Fortunately, ex-West Ham striker Frank McAvennie believes they could offload four players before deadline day, three of them have started every game under Julen Lopetegui. “I think Vladimir Coufal, Danny Ings and Michail Antonio could all leave,” he told West Ham Zone. “Get rid of the three of them for their wages.”
“I like Coufal buy with the new boy, Wan-Bissaka, he’s going to be second fiddle. He won’t want to do that. Add Tomas Soucek to that, four players could be out the door this summer. That would leave room for someone else to come in.”
Whether this is purely his prediction or whether he has some inside knowledge from his connections at the club remains unknown, but it certainly wouldn’t be a surprise to see any of those four go. With that being said, Soucek clearly has a massive role to play still, even if he was better suited to Moyes’ system, and it’s hard to imagine that the club would be overly keen to lose their only backup right-back with almost no time to replace him.
