West Ham defender Max Kilman was delighted to get his first win, clean sheet, and assist for the club.

When it was announced that West Ham had signed Max Kilman for a whopping £40 million a lot of football fans, including Wolves’, were absolutely shocked that the club had paid that much money for him. However, in the opening two games of the Premier League season he has shown exactly why Julen Lopetegui was so desperate to bring him to East London.

The central-defender was arguably the Hammers’ best player against Aston Villa, despite conceding two goals, but against Crystal Palace there is little doubt that he was the best player on the pitch.

Understandably, the 27-year-old was delighted with the result as well as his performance, particularly his unbelievable assist where he ran half the length of the pitch to play a sublime through-ball to Jarrod Bowen. “It was amazing. To get the first win for my new Club and get our first three points is amazing, and we’re all delighted,” Kilman explained to the official site. “We were a bit nervy at the start, as we know coming to this stadium is tough, but as the game went on, we started to create some more chances.”

“[For my assist] I looked up and had a lot of space, and I know Jarrod [Bowen] has a lot of quality, and the finish was top class. To get a clean sheet and win away from home means everything.”

Although Kilman was superb, the game really swung in West Ham’s favour when fellow new signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka stepped onto the pitch, and Kilman was keen to highlight just how vital the right-back was to the Hammers in walking away with all three points. “He [Aaron Wan-Bissaka] did really well. He is a top player and deserves all the credit he gets today, as does everyone else, as we all worked hard out there. We deserved the three points in the end.”

If Kilman keeps up this form, our Irons defensive worries will surely be a thing of the past. He’s been worth every penny so far, hopefully he is able to continue this exceptional form.
