West Ham players and fans show their class as a ball boy gets crushed by an advertisement board.

Despite being home to one of the best atmospheres in the Premier League, Selhurst park is an awful ground. It’s full of absolute woeful, obstructed views and there’s some real safety concerns.

The latter issue nearly ended in disaster during West Ham’s clash with Crystal Palace on Saturday. When Soucek scored the opener, fans celebrating caused the advertising board in front of them to collapse, with its full weight on the back of a ball boy, with tens of fans also adding to that. While he didn’t realise what was happening, Lucas Paqueta celebrated with the fans by jumping on too which couldn’t have helped.

In a situation that could have ended really badly, both Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen almost instantly realised that there was a young boy underneath it and both got him out with haste.

Thanks to their fast thinking, the boy isn’t believed to have suffered any injuries and Bowen was able to find him after the game to give him his shirt. Both the players’ behaviour has been praised by the Hammers and Eagles alike. One West Ham fan who was caught up in the rush had even offered to bring him to the London Stadium, a lovely gesture.
