West Ham are set to miss out on a major investment opportunity which could have revolutionised the club.

No matter your opinion on the owners of West Ham United, there’s no denying that they’ve put their money where their mouth is this Summer. While they’ve been careful to avoid a breach of PSR regulations, they’ve reportedly spent €144 million this window.

However, compared to a lot of club’s owners, David Sullivan is not necessarily one of the richest. With the Hammers looking to break into that next level, they could really do with having that bit more money at their disposal.

Thankfully, there is a huge opportunity for someone to come in and provide that investment with the Gold family looking to part with a substantial percentage of their ownership.

Reports suggested that Financier Amanda Staveley could be the one to buy those shares, and perhaps even more. It’s believed she has raised £500 million and is keen to purchase part of another Premier League club following the announcement that she had sold her part of Newcastle United.

Unfortunately, not only does it look like they will miss out on her investment, but it will be their fierce rivals Tottenham Hotspur who get it instead, Alan Nixon reports. “Staveley has ‘serious money’ behind her from the Middle East and private wealthy individuals who want a glamorous Premier League home,” Nixon posted on his Patreon.

“Staveley has put together a separate funding team and hopes to take an initial stake in Spurs before buying even more of the London club. Owner Joe Lewis may be open to selling at the age of 87. He lives abroad and has had his own business issues distracting him recently.”

“There could be a deal to take 25 per cent of the club as they are open to investment coming in as the first stage of a new partnership.”

Losing out on such a substantial piece of money is always going to be tough to take, but losing out on it to Spurs is absolutely infuriating.
