A West Ham fan is doing the most classy of gestures for a Crystal Palace ball boy.

Unfortunately, football as a sport has become synonymous with tragedies. Throughout the years there have been so many awful events that safety regulations should cover all bases. However, it seems like somewhere something went wrong during those checks at Selhurst Park.

After West Ham scored their first goal in their 2-0 win over Crystal Palace, the players ran over to the East London faithful to celebrate. As the fans rushed forward the advertisement board in front of them collapsed, causing a pile up of fans. Underneath all the people and the board itself was a young ball boy who managed to escape serious injury only thanks to the quick thinking of Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen.

While Bowen was kind enough to give the boy his shirt after the game, one fan named Jack Levin has gone one step further by inviting him as a guest to the return fixture later this season. “If Tomas hadn’t got him out, he could’ve been badly injured and thank God that he wasn’t,” Levin told the Mail Online. “My friends who were with me were very concerned about him too. I saw that Tomas and Jarrod Bowen and some of the other players were looking after him. But the lad looked quite shocked and upset.”

“I am sorry for what he went through. It was nobody’s fault really. There was a gate that gave way on the advertising boards first and then people fell on top of each other and I was shoved into it too with the LED board breaking.”

“I am getting in touch with Crystal Palace to see if I can speak to the boy’s parents and get him to come to West Ham as a guest for the return fixture later in the season.”

This is a classy act from the fan and it just goes to show how brilliant the West Ham fanbase truly is. Every one of us is obviously delighted he’s unharmed and would be delighted to see both clubs work together to make him a guest of honour at the London Stadium.
