Julen Lopetegui has reportedly made a massive change to West Ham’s training schedule.

When a new manager comes into a football club it’s not just the style of play that changes. Everything about how West Ham is run has changed this Summer, whether that be the recruitment, the coaching staff or the mindset of everyone involved with the team – not to mention the 9 new signings.

However, it seems like Julen Lopetegui isn’t completely satisfied with how things are going following his first four games in charge of the club.

While the Hammers had some extremely difficult fixtures, it’s clear that they still need time to fully adapt to life under the Spaniard. In order to make this transition go smoothly, The Athletic reports that he has decided to cut the amount of days off the players received. He hopes that this will not only improve his side’s ability, but also their work ethic.

Obviously this brings an increased chance of injury as well as fatigue but with the Irons having no European football this season it is a move that makes a lot of sense.

Although work ethic isn’t something many fans would have complained about under David Moyes, in fact it’s probably the one thing you can’t criticise the players on during the second-half of last season, it can never hurt to have more.

Hopefully, this change will be exactly what the players need in order to kickstart the new era of West Ham United.
